Mahatma Gandhi
Based on a 1931 photograph of Gandhi outside Downing Street during his visit for the Round Table Conference, the statue shows him in his customary shawl and dhoti. It was unveiled to mark the centenary of his return from South Africa to India to begin the independence struggle.
