Temple Bar Memorial Dragon
A snarling dragon — the City's heraldic guardian — marks the spot where Wren's Temple Bar gateway stood, and where the monarch still halts to ask the Lord Mayor's permission to enter the City. Smaller silver-painted dragons copied from it guard every other road into the Square Mile.
