The Golden Boy of Pye Corner
A small gilded cherub marks the spot where the Great Fire of 1666 finally burned out. Because the fire began in Pudding Lane and ended at Pye Corner, preachers declared it God's punishment for the sin of gluttony — so the boy is deliberately, pointedly fat.
